Airborne Computer (EB1)

The challenge

Modern aircraft missions depend on fast, reliable access to data, applications and communications, yet today’s airborne systems are often fragmented, inflexible and hard to update. Operators frequently juggle separate boxes for mission software, communications, recording and entertainment, each with its own interfaces and constraints.

This leads to complex integrations with third‑party avionics, limited support for modern operating systems and apps, and makes it difficult to share data seamlessly between onboard systems or with the ground.

At the same time, mission crews increasingly need intuitive access to familiar tools such as browsers, document viewers, media players and communication apps directly in the aircraft environment, without compromising safety or performance.

Our solution

Used as a standalone system, the Airborne Computer supports Microsoft Windows, Linux and other operating systems. This allows support of communication purposes, mission software or entertainment programs.

As part of the aircraft´s mission avionic, the HENSOLDT Airborne Computer is able to interface with third-party equipment to exchange data between the systems or communicate between operator/user and ground.

Depending on the operating system, the Airborne Computer-MPAC is able to provide all common applications, such as an internet browser, PDF reader, media player, communication apps, entertainment apps, etc., in the aircraft.

Interfaced with other HENSOLDT products such as the Enhanced Reality System, EuroNav and EasyTask, the Airborne Computer develops its full effect. Among other things, it is ideally suited for the Enhanced Reality System as a remote control and as an external Network Attached Storage (NAS) device for the digital video and audio recording.

Further interface features such as interfaces to third party equipment, data exchange between various systems, communication between aircraft and ground station.
